</i> Sorry, this one's serious and not so funny

I'm not easily offended, but this site is so repulsive that even I, the phantom LJ user, was annoyed enough to post a long rant about it. Do NOT click on this link if you even suspect that it might ruin your day.

I got this link from congress.org, by the way. No, they don't support this site (as far as I can tell) - it was in one of the posted letters (most of which appear to have been written by complete idiots).

    Continue, if you're feeling brave.

    http://www.wketchup.com/

    W ketchup is America's ketchup.

You don't support Democrats, so why should your ketchup?

The leading competitor not only has 57 varieties, but has 57 foreign factories as well. W Ketchup comes in one flavor: American.

Choose Heinz and you're supporting Teresa Heinz and her liberal causes, such as Kerry for President.

I got the link to this site from congress.org. I can't decide if it's a joke or not. It looks like you really can order the stuff, at any rate, but the minimum order is 4 bottles.

For any out-of-town friends who were wondering
At this point it's safe to say that hurricane Charley has passed us by without jinxing myself and having it veer back around to hit us. The storm swept east pretty much right before it hit, attacking Orlando instead. We barely even got any rain.

I guess I should fill out Caitlin's meme, too, since participation is critical and all.

Because nobody believes me when I say I'm too effing busy...
Here is what I did this weekend! Ready?

    Thursday (prelude to the weekend):
    9AM-5PM: in class.
5PM: drove to Sprint to pick up the slides that Chris had dropped off during lunch. (The slides are for one of my classes.) Asked them about getting a few last-minute prints done so that I can have my portfolio finished in time for the wedding show on Sunday. Sprint says they're out of matte paper, but will do the prints for me if I bring them some.
7PM: arrived at home. Turned down Ann's birthday party and a free meal at Bern's steak house (roughly $25-30 per plate and well worth it, for those of you who aren't in Tampa) so that I could work on my digital photography assignment, which is due Monday.
12AM or so: went to bed.

Friday (supposed to be at work, but called in):
10AM: Got up, got dressed, drove to Staples to buy a package of 8x10 matte photo paper. Took photo paper to Sprint, along with a cd that had my images on it.
    11AM: Went home, had breakfast.
12PM: Went to USF. Headed for Richard's office to get my slides approved.
2PM: Finally got to see Richard. Richard approved my slides. Made stops at Financial Aid and Advising to get some things cleared up.
2:30PM-4:30PM: Went to ceramics lab. Worked on ceramics project that is due Tuesday morning.
5:00PM: Went back to Sprint to pick up prints. Print quality sucks. Screamed for a bit. Sprint re-does prints after cleaning printer while I wait. Prints still suck. Sprint gives me prints for free.
6:00PM: Finally left Sprint. Ate dinner.
7:00PM-12:00AM: Went to Jenny & Laura's house. Spent 5 hours working on digital photography assignment on Chris's laptop while Chris, Eloy, Jenny and Laura played Cyberpunk.
Synopsis: Still not finished with ceramics assignment (due Tuesday) or digital assignment (due monday). Still no prints for my portfolio. Out $20 because I had to buy matte paper, which I now have no use for.

    Saturday:
10AM: Got up, got dressed, ate breakfast. Went to work.
12PM: Judy, my photo boss, called and asked about the portfolio. I told her about what happened with Sprint. She says to take the CD to Sam's in Brandon and have them make the prints. Unfortunately, I was at work, and could not go to Sam's.
2:00PM: Lunch break. Asked Chris to pretty-please take my CD to Sam's and have them make prints for me.
3:00PM: Chris calls me at work, and tells me that the digital print machine at Sam's isn't working. Screamed for a bit. Called Judy. Judy calls Sam's and yells at them. Sam's agrees to let Chris wait while they fix the machine.
5:00PM: Chris shows up with the prints from Sam's, which are beautiful, but THE WRONG SIZE.
7:00PM: Left work. Went to Sam's. Brought prints from Sprint, prints from Sam's, and album pages which the prints will go into.
8:30PM: Finally able to leave Sam's, with properly-sized prints.
9:00PM-11PM: Ate dinner. Put prints into wedding album/portfolio.
11PM-12AM: Worked on digital assignment. Still not done. Took a quick shower and went to bed.
Synopsis: Ceramic piece still not done. Digital assignment still not done. Finally have a finished portfolio.

    Sunday:
9AM: Woke up, called Judy. Judy says I have to be at her place by 10:30.
9:00AM-10:00AM: Got dressed, left for Judy's to caravan to the wedding show.
11AM-12PM: Went to the Lyceum in St Pete. Set up the booth. Got breakfast at like, the ONLY place in downtown St Petersburg that's actually open on Sundays.
    1PM-4PM: At the wedding show.
5:00PM-8:00PM: Went home. Worked on and finished digital photography assignment. Ate dinner while I worked.
8:00PM-probably 1AM: In the digital lab printing shit out. It has been taking me roughly an hour to make each print. I'm still at the digital lab, by the way, and am typing this entry while I wait for my last page to print. And FUCK, I still have to write a 1-page essay to go along with my presentation tomorrow.
Summary: If I tell you I don't have time to hang out, I'm NOT just blowing you off.

    Current Mood: busy
Current Music: None because I'm at fucking USF.

I know that a decent number of the people on my friends list read Shannon's ([info]castironlocust) Livejournal as well. Therefore, I feel I should respond to his recent post about Chris (and, by extension, about me).

Shannon's journal entry describes a very creative version of what went on, and I'm not just talking about the TV metaphor. Figuratively speaking, it would have been more accurate to say that the people involved had both been thinking of buying the exact same TV, and collectively decided to save money and just buy the one TV (not a terribly expensive set, mind you) and share it.

Actually, fuck this TV bullshit. Most of you know what's going on anyway. I had been talking with Chris about starting up an internet radio station for several months. Shannon mentioned to us that he, too, had been wanting to do just that. We discussed combining our efforts and doing it together, and decided it would be a good idea. Despite what he's saying now, Shannon was probably the most enthusiastic about the idea of collaborating, saying that whenever the three of us decide to do anything together, it's always spectacular. So, Shannon signed up for a Live365 account, and Chris bought a domain and webspace for it, and I designed a pretty decent-looking website for the station. Shannon suggested naming the station Lunar Cycles, after the radio show that [info]cinzazul and I had together on WBUL. In short, Shannon provided the Live365 account while Chris and I provided the webspace, web design, and even the name. And it was pretty much everyone's idea.

And yet, somehow, in Shannon's world the station only belongs to HIM.

For an extra bit of irony, let me direct you to the part of his entry where he mentions ELN. ELN existed for about a year before Shannon had even gotten involved, but in Shannon's world it's still "the White Wolf Fansite we created and built from nothing together". Anybody seeing a pattern? Or maybe a little hypocrisy?

That's why the friendship is over. It isn't about the "TV", it's about not wanting to associate with a disrespectful control freak. By the way, this is only a small crumb of the entire story, and believe me when I say there was a LOT of nastiness involved.
